Are sensitivities to certain foods disrupting your habits or lifestyle? Are you suffering from certain reactions after consuming certain types of foods, but unsure what it is? Then, you should consider taking a food allergy test to determine what triggers your allergic reactions. You can now take this test in the comfort of your home!
Food Allergies May Cause a Variety of Different Symptoms in Individuals
Everyone of us needs food to supply our body with nutrients and energy so we can live a full and healthy life. Being individuals, we all have unique nutritional needs. The foods that are good for you might be harmful for someone else and cause them problems.
There are several reasons why certain foodstuffs might not be well tolerated, causing symptoms such as bloating, diarrhoea, headaches or skin problems. One possible cause is an IgG food allergy (type III).
A type III food allergy is when the immune system produces specific IgG antibodies (immune globulins of the subclass G). These antibodies can lead to inflammatory processes. The symptoms appear up to three days after the consumption of a ‘trigger food’.
Inflammatory processes in turn are thought to be possible triggers of different chronic diseases. Hence, IgG food allergy testing followed by an elimination and provocation diet may be a useful approach for individuals suffering from persistent ailments such as:
- Gastro-intestinal complaints
- Headaches
- Excess weight
ImuPro IgG Food Allergy Test
ImuPro is a concept that combines a sophisticated and reliable blood analysis for IgG food allergies with our unique post-test guidance.
With ImuPro you will only have to avoid foods with elevated IgG antibody values. This means that you can maintain a diverse and varied diet and do not need to restrict yourself unnecessarily. For instance, you might need to avoid salmon, but still be able to eat all other fish. After a certain period of avoidance, you may reintroduce one food after the other into your diet and monitor your symptoms. This provocation phase is the crucial step to identify your personal “trigger foods”.
Your IgG food allergy test will be performed by a specialised in vitro diagnostic laboratory which will analyse your serum or capillary sample to determine the presence of specific IgG antibodies to a wide variety of 270 foodstuffs.
With the IgG results and personalised nutritional guidelines, you will be able to discover your individual ‘trigger foods’ that cause you problems. By avoiding these ‘trigger foods’ you can reduce or even stop the inflammatory processes to aid your body recovery.
Please note that ImuPro does not examine classic IgE-mediated allergies (type I) or intolerances to lactose, fructose and histamine.
What is Classic IgE-mediated Allergies (Type I)?
A classic type I allergy is when the immune system produces specific IgE antibodies (immune globulins of the subclass E). These antibodies lead to an immediate allergic reaction. The symptoms appear within seconds or minutes: severe swelling, breathing difficulty, rash, itching skin or even anaphylactic shock. Someone who has a type I allergy will most probably know which food is causing problems, because the symptoms appear right away. Therefore, blood testing is not necessarily needed to identify this kind of allergy.
